You might be wondering why I’m making this guide since beauty retailers seem to have figured out exactly how personal the gift makeup is. If you are not purchasing it for yourself, it may be very hard to know what color foundation is needed or which lipstick shades are preferred for the recipient. Almost every store that sells beauty products offer some kind of gift set with a variety of some of the most popular products. But the holidays are suppose to be a time to find the things that will really knock their socks off, that they’re not expecting, so prepare to amaze the beauty lover in your life. This is my guide to some of the most coveted beauty products of 2016 and a few practical options as well.

$38

This is another collaboration a major company has done with a YouTube beauty guru, as I previously said, if you haven’t heard of Jaclyn Hill I’d be willing to bet your beauty lover has. Highlighting was huge in 2016, everyone wanted this blinding, beaming light right on their cheeks. This product goes amazing with every skintone, so no need to worry about that. If you know someone who was born to glow, they need this in their life!

Makeup Bag: The Weekender

$38

This item might not have been talked about that much, but for a makeup lover you can never go wrong with gifting a makeup bag! It’s something that is practical, something large enough to fit almost everything that they own in to it, but also compact enough to take on a weekend getaway. If you’re really feeling generous, buy the bag and fill it up with a few or all of these items. (And then send it directly to my house.)

You might not have heard this product being mentioned much yet, that’s because it’s brand new! $62

2016 was the year where everyone discovered how amazing the Sephora Collection is. Their products have always amazed me, some are hits and misses, but overall it is a fabulous collection with a wide variety. One of the greatest finds was their affordable and high quality brushes. Every beauty lover needs a nice set of brushes, it makes applying makeup so much easier and enjoyable when you have the proper tools. Not sure of what they need? That’s okay, get a variety pack, something with smaller brushes for eyeshadow and larger brushes for face makeup!

Viseart Palette

$80

img_5914

Here is where things start to get out of hand. Viseart has been a brand that has always been deemed as overpriced. But for some reason you hear more and more about them in the beauty community. Yes, their shadows are creamy and pigmented, but so are much more affordable eyeshadows. Is it really worth the price? That depends, but if you get this palette it will definitely cause shock and amazement.

Clarisonic Mia 2

$169

This cleansing brush has been highly talked about for three years now, everyone seems to own one and those who don’t are probably curious if it is worth the hype. I have a full review on it here, but my overall advice is if your beauty lover is struggling with skin issues: acne, dry skin, or just feels insecure about their skin… Get it! Even if it doesn’t work for them, they will appreciate the effort and thoughtfulness.

Natasha Denona Palette

$239

img_5915

Yes, you read that right. If you’re hyperventilating say it with me, “Two hundred and thirty nine dollars.” This palette has been highly discussed not only because of the hefty price tag, but because of the bendability and pigmentation of the product as well. The palette is expensive, but if you decide to go this route be sure to have the smelling salts ready, because this is a cause for fainting!
