The base for this recipe came from Ree Drummond, also known as my hero Pioneer Woman, but I made a few changes along the way and man are these delicious! I mean, it has bacon so what did I expect?
Sweet and Spicy Bacon Nuts
Yields: 8 cups
8 strips of bacon
8 tablespoons of butter
1 cup of packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon of paprika
1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of black pepper
1 teaspoon of chili powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
8 cups of nuts
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. In a large skillet fry up the bacon until crispy. After the bacon has cooked allow to drain on a paper towels and cool.
In a small bowl combine all of your seasonings.
Pour off half of the bacon grease, add butter and seasonings to the pan. Over low heat allow butter to melt and all of the seasonings to come together stirring frequently.
After the mixture has come together add your nuts and stir to coat evenly.
Dump the mixture on to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes. Chop bacon up in to small pieces and after the nuts are finished roasted sprinkle bacon bits over top.
